SUMMARY:Elgar's Cello Concerto - Talk and Live Performance
DESCRIPTION:Come along to The Firs on Sunday 2 November 2025 for a special event examining one of Sir Edward Elgar’s most profound and beloved works — the Cello Concerto. This special programme provides both insight and performance\, offering a deeper appreciations of this iconic work. \nSpeaker Richard Westwood-Brookes will offer a talk exploring the historical context of the concerto\, considering Elgar’s inspiration and answering the question of why this was the final major work of his career. \nFollowing the talk\, guests will be treated to a live performance of the concerto in its cello and piano arrangement\, featuring acclaimed cellist Corinne Frost and pianist Janine Parsons. \nPerformances will be held at 11am and 2pm\, with only 60 seats available per session – so early booking is advised to avoid disappointment. \nTickets cost £15 (standard admission charges also apply) and are available to book on the National Trust website.
