SUMMARY:Maddy Prior
DESCRIPTION:The Queen of Folk Rock\, Maddy Prior has spent a lifetime singing\, largely traditional songs\, and remains one of the most influential voices in British folk music. \nAlongside her celebrated work with Steeleye Span\, Maddy has written longer\, more exploratory pieces covering subjects as wide-ranging as hares\, ravens\, the Plantagenets\, King Arthur and an imaginative journey through the Chakras. \nMostly written with co-writers\, she has now set time aside to create a new piece with Andrew (Spud) Sinclair\, guitarist with Steeleye Span. With the aid of some modern technology\, they will present an evening of thoughtful and engaging material\, blending newly written work with depth and atmosphere. \nThe evening will also\, of course\, include a selection of traditional and familiar songs\, as Maddy continues to bring fresh visions after all these years. \nFully-stocked bar available for pre-show and interval drinks (card or cash payment accepted). \nTickets available to book online via the Malvern Cube website (early bird deal available until end of April).

SUMMARY:La Reine Margot (18) (Malvern French Film Centre)
DESCRIPTION:She is beautiful\, she is Catholic\, she is the King’s sister\, her name is Marguerite de Valois. Her brother has nicknamed her Margot. Henri de Navarre is Protestant and said to be ill-mannered\, unshaven and to smell of garlic and sweat. They are wed by force. \nIt is motivated by political considerations: they need to reconcile France\, torn apart by religious wars. Six days after the marriage at the Notre Dame Cathedral is the Saint Bartholomew Day massacre of the Huguenots. In the middle of this night of horror\, a young man wounded by several sword injuries frantically knocks on Margot’s door; La Môle because he is Protestant must die like all the others. Margot hides him\, nurses him and grows to love him. That night everything is thrown into confusion. \nIn adapting the accepted historically inaccurate novel by Alexandre Dumas\, Chéreau’s long association with theatre and opera reaches its zenith\, culminating in one of the most spectacularly overblown sequences in French cinema: the bloody Huguenot massacre of 1572. SUMMARY:Meditation and Buddhism Class
DESCRIPTION:Join us at Adhisthana to meditate with others and develop your ability to work creatively with your mind. You can either learn to meditate from scratch and develop the foundations for a daily practice or join the regulars to build on what you know and discover how to apply yourself effectively in meditation. \nAs of December 2025\, classes are being held on Mondays from 7.30pm – 9.30pm and are open to participants of all levels of experience. Please note there is no class on 22 or 29 December 2025. \nYou are welcome to arrive 15 minutes before the start. You’ll be greeted at the entrance by someone who will direct you where to go and help you with any queries. \nThe class takes place in a room on the first floor and is\, as a consequence\, unfortunately not accessible. \nIn the first half of the session\, we meditate together; this is followed by a tea break. In the second half\, we learn about the teachings of the Buddha with the chance to engage in discussion and ask questions. \nThe class is led by a team of members of the Triratna Buddhist Order and those who are training for ordination. \nIf you would like more information\, you can call Adhisthana on 01531 641726 or email us (otherwise just turn up!).
