DESCRIPTION:Storyteller Peter Chand invites you to lively interactive tales from around the world\, including drumming percussion and call and response.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPeter has shared his wonderful stories in hundreds of classrooms\, family events\, libraries\, theatres and festival all across Britain and further afield. Bridging communities and cultures\, he has a warm and enthusiastic style of oral storytelling which enthrals listeners of all ages. Amongst other places Peter has performed and trained storytellers and public speakers in family events at venues such as The Ashmolean Museum Oxford\, Festival at the Edge Storytelling Festival Shropshire\, The Victoria and Albert Museum London\, The Hans Christen Andersen Museum in Odense Denmark\, and the Kathakar Festival New Delhi India. \nIn this session Peter will share some of the fantastic world stories he has collected over twenty years as a Storyteller and bring them to life in his own unique\, lively and engaging way. SUMMARY:Open Competition - Telling Our Stories (Festival of Ideas)
DESCRIPTION:Young people in our times live in a world suffused with quick sound bites and fleeting trends. But what is their deeper story? How often is this something that they can fully express? This session is a space for these stories to be told.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHow will our times appear to those who follow us? \nWhat can we give to the future to explain the times we lived in? \nThe speakers for this session are stood in a fascinating moment of history. \nBut for all of its interest\, it is fraught with change\, uncertainty and strangeness.\nWe asked young people in Malvern to submit the talks they would like to give. Each speaker has therefore been chosen from a broad field of excellent applicants. \nTheir responses to our times are truly engaging\, thoughtful and challenging. \nWe invite you to come and listen to their stories. \nThis session is aimed at an audience of KS3\, KS4 and KS5 students (11-18 years).
