SUMMARY:Allegra
DESCRIPTION:From Olivier Award-nominated playwright Peter Quilter (End of the Rainbow\, Glorious!) comes Allegra\, a new heart-warming comedy with music\, starring national treasure Maureen Lipman (BAFTA nominee Pianist\, Coronation Street\, See How They Run\, Educating Rita). \nAllegra is full of the joy of life and has a simply irresistible urge to sing. She is liable to burst into song at home\, in the street\, and even in shops and restaurants. On occasions the music plays only in her imagination\, but quite frequently it spills into real and disruptive performances that cause chaos in her quiet village and amuse\, confuse or frustrate everyone she meets. \nHer brother Ronen and carer Anna attempt to keep her exuberance in check while avoiding angry visits from the local policeman. However\, they face an impossible challenge. How do they go about protecting Allegra without diminishing the happiness and wonder that fill her heart and characterise her spirit? \nMaureen Lipman stars in the title role in this moving comedy with lively musical sequences and lots of laughter. It is also a tender and poignant tale about family\, love and the way even the most beautiful minds can begin to fade away. \nShow times\nMonday 1 June 2026\, 7.30pm\nTuesday 2 June 2026\, 7.30pm\nWednesday 3 June 2026\, 2.30pm\nWednesday 3 June 2026\, 7.30pm\nThursday 4 June 2026\, 7.30pm\nFriday 5 June 2026\, 7.30pm\nSaturday 6 June 2026\, 2.30pm\nSaturday 6 June 2026\, 7.30pm

SUMMARY:Our Land (12A)
DESCRIPTION:Daring to tread where few have trespassed before\, Our Land explores the timely question of who has the right to roam in the English countryside? \nThe UK is a wild and beautiful place\, but the vast majority of it is off limits to the general public\, with 92% of land and 97% of all rivers in England not legally accessible.  At the same time\, it is a landscape shaped by centuries of inheritance and tradition\, with land held and cared for by families across multiple generations. \nTaking us to the the heart of the ‘Right to Roam’ movement\, Our Land embarks on a provocative trail of mass trespass\, campaigning and education while at the same time exploring landowners’ concerns around environmental protection and the danger such widespread access could pose to a landscape already under threat. \nCert:  12A\nRunning time:  1hr 30mins \nPrices:\nEvenings:  £9.50/£10.50  (Premium seats)\nMornings and matinees:  £8.50/£9.50  (Premium seats)\nConcessions and members discounts apply \nShow Times:\nPlease note:  Film starts at advertised time\nFriday 5 June at 4:30pm\nSaturday 6 June at 7:15pm\nTuesday 9 June at 11am

SUMMARY:The Metropolitan Opera: El Último Sueño de Frida y Diego
DESCRIPTION:Met Premiere of El Último Sueño de Frida y Diego – composed by Gabriela Lena Frank with libretto by Nilo Cruz \nOn 30 May 2026\, the Metropolitan Opera’s 2025–26 Live in HD season comes to an exciting close with a live transmission of American composer Gabriela Lena Frank’s first opera\, a magical-realist portrait of Mexico’s painterly power couple Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera\, with libretto by Pulitzer Prize–winning playwright Nilo Cruz. Created as a reversal of the Orpheus and Euridice myth\, the story depicts Frida\, sung by eminent mezzo-soprano Isabel Leonard\, leaving the underworld on the Day of the Dead and reuniting with Diego\, portrayed by baritone Carlos Álvarez. The famously feuding pair briefly relive their tumultuous love\, embracing both the passion and the pain before bidding the land of the living a final farewell. Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducts the Met-premiere staging of Frank’s opera\, which takes enthusiastic inspiration from Frida and Diego’s paintings\, and is directed and choreographed by Deborah Colker.

SUMMARY:VOCES8: Give Me Your Stars
DESCRIPTION:Give Me Your Stars explores the profound and diverse beauty of music that has been inspired by the heavens\, human connection\, and the places we call home. At its heart is Lucy Walker’s eponymous new work\, written specially for VOCES8\, which reflects in music the delicate balance between celestial wonder and the deep\, personal connections that make us human. \nThe programme covers centuries of choral music\, ranging from the luminous polyphony of Tomás Luis de Victoria’s Regina Caeli to timeless jazz standards. On the journey\, we find the reflective sentiments of Eric Whitacre’s All Seems Beautiful to Me and Ola Gjeilo’s Ubi Caritas\, folk traditions in Danny Boy and Michael McGlynn’s Dúlamán\, and evocative tales of cities and starlight in April in Paris and New York\, New York. \nFollow the link to the Malvern Theatres website for the full programme.
