Event Description

Concerts with Orchestra Pro Anima at Christ Church are always eagerly awaited. The wonderful programme featured in this concert has a Christmas flavour. Apart from the rousing ‘Sleigh Ride’ by Leroy Anderson that ends the concert, the music is entirely taken from the Baroque and Classical periods. The first half features a very short engaging work by the English composer William Boyce; two ‘Christmas Concertos’, the one by Corelli being particularly well-known and loved; and an effervescent work by the prolific Antonio Vivaldi. After the interval comes a beautiful Violin Concerto by Mozart, in which Michael Bochmann is the soloist, followed by an orchestral arrangement of the most international of all Christmas carols – a great way to begin the festive season.
