Cod & Asparagus

Head Chef Rob Mason and his team at 1919 Restaurant at The Cottage in the Wood have been working exceptionally hard this year on their new seven course tasting menu. The menu brings to life the passion and culinary vision that Rob’s team and the hotel stand for. Utilising local ingredients and twists on classic British flavours, they have created an innovative and unparalleled culinary experience.

Rob Mason has worked his way up the ranks of some of the UK’s leading restaurants to earn his spot at the helm of the 1919 restaurant. His menus are always seasonally led and inspired by the nature that is on the restaurants doorstep. The sample menu sings with classic British flavours, making the most of Worcestershire’s incredible larder of local suppliers and produce. Dishes include a goats cheese mousse with a garden pea and herb salad accompanied by gently aged English coppa (a type of cured pork). The fish course celebrates local asparagus pairing it with cod topped with a vibrant green pistachio crumb. Later in the menu diners can enjoy a tangy blood orange curd with almond cake and sweet toasted meringue. The dishes are artfully presented and live up to their beauty, letting the quality ingredients and innovative flavour combinations deliver on taste. The tasting menu changes regularly and can accommodate any dietary requirements, so make sure to highlight these on booking.

All this can be enjoyed in the beautiful surrounds of the 1919 restaurant and bar with incredible views across the Seven Valley from its spot on the slopes of the Malvern Hills. The restaurant is stylish and airy, providing the perfect environment for a relaxed meal which extends into the evening with a cocktail or two. The new menu is set to be extremely popular so make sure you book in advance if you are planning a stay or evening out in Malvern soon.
