Malvern Jazz, Blues & Swing club first opened their doors in 1995 and live music events are held monthly at The Cube on Albert Road North in Great Malvern.

Their programme continues on Sunday 3 July when founder Len Thwaites presents his ‘Swing time Jam Session’.

Len is a long standing stalwart of the UK Jazz scene, and over the years he’s featured in the bands of Bob Wallis, Alex Welsh, Monty Sunshine and many others.

For many years, Len ran the very popular Hereford Jazz club at the Booth Hall Hotel, which featured top UK musicians and visiting stars from the USA such as Billy Butterfield, Ralph Sutton and Jake Hanna.

A career highlight was being asked by the Bulmer family to put together a band for a gala party in honour of the visiting USA president Bill Clinton.
During the evening, Mr. Clinton took to the stage with his saxophone and enjoyed a brief cameo performance with the band.

Club treasurer Neil Thwaites said: “This is a welcome return to our roots, when Len is let loose with just a telephone and his renowned ‘little black book’ of all the musicians he’s worked with over the years.

“Whilst the club often books established bands with regular line-ups, these sessions are hugely popular as musicians enjoy coming together on the night to conjure up the magic of live music”.

The band line-up features: George Huxley – Reeds / Tony Pipkin – Trumpet / Derek Harrison – Piano & vocals / Len Thwaites – Double Bass / Ken Wright – Drums

For this session at the Cube on Sunday 3 July doors open at 7pm, the band will play from 8pm – 10:30pm (including interval) and admission is £10 cash on the door.
