Christmas Wreaths laid on a table with red festive ribbons

The Colwall Mistletoe Fair is a seasonal favourite. If you’re not quite feeling the Christmas spirit this celebration of local produce is a traditional and wonderfully festive remedy for even the meanest Grinch.

The team from Colwall Orchard Group love the preparations in the weeks before their annual event in early December. From harvesting fruits to make lovely juice, jam, jelly and chutney for their stall, to collecting the mistletoe on a frosty morning, and bunching it ready to sell. They also get creative making festive wreaths from the beautiful array of hedgerow vegetation in the orchards. It is all a wonderful cycle of life for their work in restoring, promoting and celebrating traditional orchards.

The day of the Mistletoe Fair will bring regulars and new visitors alike to the stalls outside Provisions of Colwall on the Walwyn Road. Many enjoy a warming cup of spicy mulled apple juice and a mince pie or homemade cake while shopping for festive and local gifts and treats. Local produce has become ever more popular and strikes a chord with those wishing to buy gifts with very few miles involved in its production. And all the profits go back into managing traditional orchards for both people and nature. What could be a better start to the festive season!

We hope that you can come along on 4 December from 9am to 1pm, outside ‘Provisions of Colwall’, Walwyn Road, Colwall, WR13 6QG – Admission is free.
