Event Description
Textile artist Sarah Brooker will be leading a one-day workshop, teaching the unique process of wet felting and the magical capacity for mark making….
During the morning, the focus will be on drawing, using the beautiful gardens of Hellens Manor as our inspiring backdrop. (As it will be autumn, it is hoped that the weather will be calm, but if not the flora may be foraged or brought from home.) Using the glorious range of plants and your own favourite mark-making drawing tools and sketchbook – charcoal, crayon, pastels etc. – we will explore the various textures and colours that abound.
After the felting process has been explained there will be a short demonstration from Sarah and then you will embark on using the merino fleeces plus any other natural fibres brought along from home to incorporate into your piece. Using your drawings from the morning, you will create a wall piece, durable, colourfast and colourful! Please bring along any extra materials, drawing kit and your imaginations.
