Event Description

Brockhampton is a charming medieval manor house set within the largest orchard looked after by the National Trust. With over six centuries of history and 1,700 acres of woodland, parkland and farmland, it’s the perfect place for a day out this Heritage Open Day.

Pass through the lopsided gatehouse and prepare to travel through time inside the 14th century moated manor house, where you’ll find that each room tells the story of a different era in Brockhampton’s long history, from the medieval Great Hall to the 1950s Freegard lounge.

The beautiful orchard around the manor house is planted with Shropshire Prune damson trees, and if you walk along the hard-standing accessible paths you’ll reach the heritage apple, quince, and pear trees, followed by the apple-core and reimagined orchards. Here you’ll discover a proliferation of young fruit trees, as well as the natural play trail and the ‘Hereford Bull’ trow, a cargo boat which sailed in Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee pageant.

For a longer walk, follow one of the way-marked walks out into the wider estate and enjoy all the natural beauty of Brockhampton, from wooded valleys and streams to open parkland.

Open free of charge from 10am – 5pm on Saturday 13 September 2025 for Heritage Open Days, Brockhampton is also open regularly (admission fees apply at other times).
