For twenty years Graham was a drama and dance teacher before an illness caused him to leave teaching. He turned back to his love of folksong and folklore. He started touring schools and libraries with his work and receiving invitations from abroad, most notably tours in Australia, New Zealand and Canada as well as Europe and Scandinavia. With Dream On Productions in Argentina he helped initiate English language storytelling in schools throughout South America.

As Artistic Director of the Trad Arts Team he established a touring network of popular storytelling evenings called Storytelling Café, and nurtured young storytellers nationally, running the annual Young Storyteller of the Year Award for ten years. Much of his recent artwork has narrative elements to them.
