The Elgar Society – West Midlands Branch presents a talk by Dr Roger Allen.

The Elgar Society was first formed in Malvern nearly 75 years ago, and now has a network of branches around the UK and internationally. Learn more about Sir Edward Elgar and related topics, through regular society journals and talks from music scholars and enthusiasts.

This talk by Dr Roger Allen will examine Elgar’s First Symphony, Sir Thomas Beecham and Beecham’s famous description of this great symphony as ‘the musical equivalent of St Pancras Station’.

There is no charge to attend the talk, but donations from non-members are gratefully received.
