The Worlds of J.R.R.Tolkien – The Places that inspired Middle-earth with John Garth
The landscapes of J.R.R Tolkien’s Middle-earth are much more than a backdrop to the action. They’re a living part of it, utterly convincing and powerfully evocative. They derive much of their realism and depth from his personal connection with places he knew. Many claims have been advanced for locations supposed to have inspired him. But what were his real touchstones in England and Wales and how did they work their way into his novels?
Award-winning Tolkien biographer John Garth takes us on a journey for the truth behind the myth.
