Event Description
A French choir, the Chœur de Chambre des Deux-Sèvres, will perform Malvern as part of a week-long tour of the UK. The choir, directed by Anne Koppe, consists of approximately 30 amateur singers chosen for their vocal and musical abilities. Their repertoire includes a wide range of mostly unaccompanied choral music, from the medieval period to the present day.
In Malvern, the choir will present their programme entitled Voices in Prayer and Celebration, a selection of sacred and secular works. The programme takes the form of a musical voyage from Scandinavia to the USA, taking in both France and the UK. Featured composers include Benjamin Britten, Ola Gjeilo, Thierry Machuel, Javier Busto and John Tavener among many others.
The choir’s performances combine music with movement: pieces may be sung in procession, or in two groups at the front and back of the church, or by surrounding the audience so that the listeners are immersed in the sound.
The concert is hosted by the charity Headway Worcestershire, which will receive all proceeds.
