Pensons 2

Pensons Restaurant was awarded the highest accolade at last week’s Visit England’s annual tourism awards for excellence, winning the ‘Taste of England’ category.

Pensons’ Managing Partner, Peta Darnley, said:  “We are thrilled and honoured to have received this award.  It is testament to the hard work of our wonderful team and our ethos of showcasing the very best from the Worcestershire-Herefordshire area.  We strive to be a beacon of excellence, and hope this recognition will help tourism for the whole region.”

Head Chef, Chris Simpson, commented:  “Everything we do at Pensons focusses on local because the superior flavour of what we grow here in our kitchen garden or source from the suppliers nearby really shows on the menu and therefore the experience for our guests”

In addition to this accolade, Pensons is currently the only restaurant in counties of Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Shropshire (on whose borders it is located) to hold a Michelin Star.  It is also one of only 40 restaurants in the country to hold a Michelin Green star for sustainability.

Pensons believes that it’s hyper-local ethos shouldn’t just be limited to ingredients and collaborated with local artisans to furnish the restaurant and courtyard bedrooms, for example using fabric woven on the Netherwood Estate’s own mill, as well as plates and bowls made by local potters, lampshades woven from local willow, and steak knives forged by a local blacksmith.

Guests are welcome to tour the restaurant’s kitchen gardens, as well as visit Pensons’ courtyard store that stocks handpicked and handmade artisanal homewares.

As well as fine dining, Pensons also boasts two beautiful bedrooms so diners can enjoy a luxury overnight break.

Pensons is open from Wednesday evening until Sunday lunchtime, serving a three-course a la carte menu at lunch and a five-course taster menu in the evenings.

Pensons is located between the picturesque market towns of Bromyard and Tenbury Wells, close to Worcester, Hereford and Ludlow.  It is just over an hour’s drive from Birmingham, Bristol, Cheltenham and the Cotswolds.
