What’s New Across The Malverns – Summer 2024

It’s not just holidaymakers that are attracted to The Malverns; over the past few months lots of new and exciting businesses have been opening their doors across our district. Our towns, Tenbury Wells, Malvern and Upton upon Severn, were already brimming with independent businesses and fantastic cuisines but now there’s even more to explore with a new wild swimming spot, technology museum and independent coffee shops.

The Malverns is positively brimming with new activities, shops and eateries with more exiting plans unfolding over the next few months – see all this, as well as your longstanding favourites, on your next visit.

The Technology Station – Great Malvern

This museum is a fascinating location which focuses on the technological innovation which originated in Malvern throughout World War II. This Technology Station does not only recognise the past, but also inspires to influence future generations of scientists and engineers through interactive displays and informative exhibits. Located in Great Malvern Train Station the museum is free to enter and open to the public on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Native – Tenbury Wells

Native, located on the historic Netherwood Estate, offers a sustainable and organic menu style, which aims to pursue the restaurant’s zero waste mission. Native is dedicated to locally sourcing their ingredients, with goodness harvested from the estates local gardens and surrounding landscapes. Native also offers an immersive experience that invites customers to explore both the food and the surrounding landscapes.

Papas Caffe – Great Malvern

The lively and well liked café, has been a staple in Worcester’s ‘New Street’ for over 12 years. Now Pappas has opened a new branch in Great Malvern – creating many new opportunities to expand their customer base and create an ‘unforgettable experience’ for many more. The café doesn’t just offer hot drinks, but breakfast and brunch, both favoured by many.

B&M – Great Malvern

B&M is a well known, budget store which sells big brand products at cheap, affordable prices. After Wilkos closure in September, the residents of Malvern have been in need of a new shop which offers an extensive range of products at cheap prices, which is why B&M is a great replacement, offering goods from pet food to electronics.

The English Country House

This English Country House dates back to approximately 1617. The retreat invites visitors to ‘step back in time’ and enjoy the historic, yet fascinating, heritage of the house. Guests can expect to immerse themselves in many experiences, such as the ‘handmade paper’ course or the ‘Tudor craft’ workshop. As well, guests can enjoy the nature and the beautiful scenery surrounding the house, meaning there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Playground Pilates Studio

Astley Vineyard, Shepherds Huts

This beautiful vineyard, situated in Stourport, is set to offer a ‘secluded and restful retreat’ to its customers. Supported by MHDC, the vineyard hopes to “provide a unique and relaxing experience for city dwellers, foodies and nature lovers” with its new shepherds hut accommodation. There are many experiences that can be of interest, such as wine tasting, which makes the vineyard great for a few nights away. The huts are yet to be completed, with landscaping and furnishing still to come, but these two huts are sure to provide a cosy getaway no matter the season.

Escape to the Lake

Escape to the Lake is a serene retreat offering a perfect combination of relaxation and adventure. Situated at a spring fed lake, this experience invites guests to unwind and enjoy the beauty of the nature around it. With the many courses, such as outdoor yoga, wild swimming, breath work and more, there is something for everyone in this little slice of tranquillity.

Kings Ink – Link Top

Operating as a small tattoo business, Kings Ink offer a blend of artistic expertise and a welcoming atmosphere to all customers. The staff are described as ‘dedicated’ which ensures that guests will not be disappointed by the services provided.

Cromwell’s Ale & Wine – Upton upon Severn

This stylish wine bar is one of the latest additions to Upton upon Severn. With a sophisticated atmosphere and lovely views of the Pepperpot and Church gardens Cromwell’s is sure to make a lovely spot for a summer evening.

Weavers (CAMRA AWARD) – Great Malvern

Weavers, popular Great Malvern ale bar, has won the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) award for Worcestershire 2024 – being named the counties pub of the year. Weavers won the prize due to their service, high customer satisfaction and their recognition of wider social issues the pub raise money for, with quiz nights and more to ensure that customers are enjoying themselves while raising money for a good cause.

Coffee Wolf – Upton upon Severn

Coffee Wolf has a warm and inviting atmosphere which is perfect for relaxation, or just getting a drink to go. The shop serves a delightful range of beverages, from americanos to frappes, meaning there is something for everybody! Alongside this, they offer a range of affordable food, such as flapjacks and toast.

J. Maverick Craft Ales & Ciders – Upton upon Severn

J. Maverick is a swish craft ale and cider bar at 17 Hight Street, Upton upon Severn. With quirky décor, this small and friendly bar has a huge selection of craft ales and ciders to choose from.

The Picnic Box, Great Malvern

New owners at The Picnic Box offering a selection of freshly made sandwiches and salads, coffees and tea, milkshakes & real fruit juice.

This pastel painted bookshop will be opening in Upton upon Severn in August. This bookshop handpicks the best in local and global fiction and non-fiction as well as offering a great selection of children’s books. Keep an eye on 3 Old Street to see how the new shop is coming along!
