It’s not just holidaymakers that are attracted to The Malverns; over the past few months lots of new and exciting businesses have been opening their doors across our district. Our highstreets in Tenbury Wells, Malvern and Upton upon Severn were already brimming with independent businesses and fantastic cuisines but now there’s even more to explore with eateries championing local produce, a new tap room and Dinosaur World.

Madresfield Butchers and Grill is very seasonally appropriate bringing decorations of pressed wild flowers to the inside and outside of this new restaurant on Great Malvern’s Church Street. Serving local produce directly from the Madresfield Estate this eatery is able to control each step of the process making sure that all it’s produce is of the highest quality and is also part of a balanced ecosystem. The newly designed restaurant is very smart with forest green accents, pressed wildflowers from the estates meadows and built in booth style seating.

Amaze Move to New Location and New Malvern Market

Quirky second hand shop Amaze has moved into a new location on Great Malvern’s Belle Vue Terrace. The shop sells all kinds of unique upcycled gifts, homeware, cards and decorations – created out of donations from the public. The new space is located on Belle Vue Terrace down the walkway between Iapetus Gallery and The Picnic Box.

The owners of Amaze are also setting up a new market at the same location. On Friday and Saturday the market will house traditional traders selling fruit & veg and other local produce. On Sundays it will be an indoor car boot sale with local people encouraged to take a pitch and sell their unwanted goods.

Regal Folk Festival – Tenbury Wells

Regal’s first ever Folk Festival will be taking place 15-20 April 2024. With a diverse line up of talented folk musicians, this week guarantees captivating performances and a vibrant celebration of folk music. Experience fantastic folk performances in the beautiful surroundings of this restored art deco cinema.

Brewbox – Great Malvern

Brewbox, brought to you by Nigh Owl Brewery, is a new artisan bottle shop with fresh beer straight from the barrel. The shop, located on St Ann’s Road, is open from Wednesday – Sunday. Stop by to taste the their beer and browse the locally sourced spirits, ciders, beers, wines and more.

The Little Herb Remedy Tenbury Wells

You might have missed this shop, tucked away in Teme Court on Teme Street, Tenbury Wells but this pretty store has a lot to offer. Since their opening in December 2023 The Little Herb Remedy has been providing natural and organic skincare infused with herbs and essential oils. All made in house, they pride themselves on competing with big brads pricewise while providing a more natural product. They also make bath bombs, herb and oil mixes, massage oils and much more.

Located on the top floor of hardware shop Handyman House in Malvern Link new business Madry offers a range of services, as well as serving up hot drinks in their cosy coffee shop. Head to Madry for quirky personalised gifts, framing services and medals and trophies.

Professor Willy’s – Great Malvern

Professor Willy’s is a newly opened sweet shop on Great Malvern’s Worcester Road. Selling traditional sweets by weight as well as ice-cream in the summer time this new shop, with its quirky themed décor, is sure to be a hit with kids. If you’re already sweet enough, head downstairs to shop in their unusual antiques selection.

Louise James Florist Move to Malvern Link

Louise James Florist has made the move from Upton-upon- Severn to a larger location in Malvern Link. The new shop interior is beautifully decorated with all things floral, and plenty of twinkling fairy lights. Pick up one of their stunning hand made bouquets, some delicate dried flowers or colourful potted plant to make the day of a loved one – or just to cheer yourself up. They also stock some indoor plant accessories and a range of candles.

New Amnesty Bookshop Now Open – Great Malvern

The Amnesty Bookshop in Great Malvern has now settled into it’s new home on Church Walk. The new shop is bright and modern and has a huge array of second hand books – everything from new fiction to ancient history. The bookshop is a great way for literature lovers to bag a bargain and donate some money to an excellent cause.

Royal Oak – Leigh Sinton

After its sad closure at the end of 2023 The Royal Oak in Leigh Sinton opened it’s doors to the public again this Easter. After a bit of a refresh (including the installation of a brand new oak bar) the new owners are keen to make the pub the heart of the community again and hope to give off a welcoming and fun atmosphere.

Ralph Court Gardens – Dinosaur World

Something scary has opened at Ralph Court Gardens. Deep in their gardens discover previously extinct creatures brought back to life. Meet the T-Rex, Velociraptor and other beasts as you journey through this land before time. The life size animatronic dinosaurs live amongst Jurassic style gardens. After your ordeal in Dinosaur World relax in their more peaceful themed gardens or head to the restaurant.

The Red Lion – Holt Heath

This community pub is set to re-open after a long period of closure. The pub has been taken on by a new family who have plans to reopen as a bar and Indian restaurant. The new owners are busy renovating the pub and hope to open to the public sometime this spring.

Papa’s Caffe – Great Malvern

Worcester favourite coffee shop and café is opening a second branch in the old Costa Coffee shop on Church Street in Great Malvern. The friendly café will be serving up breakfast and brunch favourites like poached eggs, pancakes and French Toast. They will also be open for lunch offering burgers, sandwiches, salads and more all made with locally sourced ingredients.

B&M Opening Saturday 4 May

After the departure of Wilco’s, Great Malvern has been in need of an every day budget store. Lucky B&M has announced they will be opening in the location on 4 May. Supplied by big brands B&M offers every-day goods such as cleaning products, garden supplies, electrical goods and more.

St Richards Hospice Clearance Shop – Barnards Green

After their success in moving their main boutique to a larger Barnards Green location, St Richards Hospice have now opened a clearance shop in their original location at 1B Court Road Barnards Green. The shop will sell heavily discounted stock that has not sold across the rest of its network of shops. All items including clothing, bric-a-brac, books and toys will be sold for £5 or less.

Croome Changing Places Toilet

A new fully accessible ‘Changing Places’ toilet has been installed at Croome National Trust. this contributes to making our district as accessible as possible to locals and tourists. The toilet is accessible by RADAR key which can be found at the Cafe and Visitor Reception. These can also be supplied at our Tourist Information Centres.

Upton Toilets

Renovation works have been completed on a public toilet block in Upton upon Severn. The eco-friendly project, from Malvern Hills District Council, started in September 2023, totalling approx. £150k.

Improvements made include electricity saving measures such as LED lighting and integrated solar panels and a compete re-tile and redecoration.
