Start planning where to do your Christmas shopping locally with our new handy guide to promote our wonderful independent shops across The Malverns. As part of our Reassuringly Local campaign, we’ve created lists of independent shops in the various categories below, so you can find the perfect shop to purchase that unique present for your friends and family.
A Great Selection of Independent Shops
You can either take the time to walk around the shops and browse in each of the independent retailers in each of the town centres, or click on the links below to find out what shops are where, to make that special trip. Whether you’re after arts and crafts; books; antiques and curios; clothing, shoes and haberdashery; homeware; jewellery; local food and drink; or the latest in DIY tools, you’ll find it right here in The Malverns.
Our lovely town centres – Malvern (Great Malvern, Malvern Link and Barnards Green), Tenbury Wells and Upton upon Severn have a wide selection of independent shops which help support a number of family-run enterprises as well as providing employment opportunities for many local residents. 2020 has been a tough year for our independent shops; first with the January floods, and then the Corona Virus pandemic affecting footfall and trade across the area. This year we hope you will join us, and purchase your Christmas gifts and edible Christmas treats from independent businesses located around The Malverns.
Children’s Christmas Window Trail
If you’re taking the children around the shops with you, then make sure you sign up to participate in our Christmas Window Trail competition to help keep them entertained as you browse the shops. Find out more here.
Coronavirus Restrictions
We would love to welcome you all, but to help protect our residents, please do not visit if you live or work in a Tier 3 location. Please do not visit (or leave the house), if you are ill, displaying symptoms of coronavirus, or have recently come into contact with someone who has coronavirus. Please remember to wear your mask, regularly wash and/or sanitise your hands and keep a safe distance. Please keep an eye out for notices about how many people are allowed in each shop at any one time.

Country Retail and Studios
You can also head on out into the countryside where you can explore and browse three rural shopping centres, where you can purchase Christmas presents from a number of arts and crafts studios, including:
Mill Farm Country Retail at Stanford Bridge in the Teme Valley
The Fold at Bransford
Hop Pocket Craft Centre at Bishops Froome.

Christmas Tree Farms
The fertile soils around The Malverns brings the phase ‘Christmas tree’ to life, with three large Christmas tree farms where you are able to buy direct from the farm. Garden Centres, farm shops (see Food and Drink Shops) and other local stockists are available. Did you know if you buy a Christmas Tree direct from the farm, it is fresher so the needles tend to take longer to fall?
