Event Description
A beautiful walk from Alfrick centre through fields, tracks, ancient woodland, old apple orchards with spectacular views and an abundance of wildlife. We leave Alfrick via fields and the Dingle, a quaint ancient woodland with a stream and some steep steps. For the next few miles we cross cultivated and grazing fields where red kites and buzzards are frequently seen. As we approach Leigh we cross over to a series of tracks through fields, old and new orchards to Leigh Brook. We enter Sandlin and pick up a scenic track to Birchwood common which has 180degree panorama . We have lunch at the Knapp and Papermill reserve amongst wild flowers, an abundance of birdsong and the resident kingfisher. From here we wend our way home via Blackhouse woods, a rich, ancient semi- natural woodland with rare lime trees and a rich moth population. The Worcester way takes us to Lulsley pool and a level walk home through fields for coffee or tea and home made cakes at Alfrick cafe.
