Event Description
A chance to have a go at this red-listed endangered heritage craft and create your own Christmas decorations and angel.
As part of the workshop, participants will be taught basic plaiting and tied straw techniques, producing several corn dollies that can be used as Christmas decorations, culminating in the showstopper Christmas angel, which is ideal for the top of your Christmas tree.
You will be working with a heritage straw, Maris Widgeon, which is grown and harvested in the traditional way on a Staffordshire farm.
In addition to the practical instruction, this session will explain some of the folklore, history and traditions behind corn dollies.
It’s designed for beginners and those with some previous strawcraft experience, for a maximum of eight people, costing £45 per person.
