Australia/Mongolia/Germany, 2024, 1 hour 36 minutes, Mongolian + English subtitles
After a devastating storm destroys their livelihood in rural Mongolia, a young couple make the painful decision to uproot their family and move to the city and a new way of life.
Davaa and Zaya (credited as co-writers) live with their children in a desert region tending their small flock of sheep and horses. However, the effects of climate change prove more devastating to their tenuous livelihood than any physical wolves. The move to Ulaanbaatar undermines a whole way of life and ushers in doubts and emotional turmoil.
Blending documentary and fiction, with superb cinematography, this paints a deeply affecting portrait of Mongolian life, and the rupture caused by climate migration.
