Businesses across the Malvern Hills District interested in supporting carbon reduction initiatives are being invited to a special crowdfunding launch event.

The Destination Zero Community Fund launch event will see crowdfunding experts Spacehive talk about the council’s £100,000 funding pot which will support community-led projects that contribute towards the aims of the Destination Zero Plan.

Businesses will be able to learn more about how they can play a pivotal role in supporting community projects through crowdfunding while tackling climate change.

The event will take place at Morgan Motor Company from 2pm to 4pm on Wednesday 23 March 2022. Visitors at the event will:

  • learn more about the Spacehive crowdfunding platform.
  • hear from project creators who have benefitted from bringing their ideas to life with support from their communities, the council and local businesses.
  • hear about Malvern Hills District Council’s environmental priorities including the Destination Zero Plan.
  • network with other local businesses and share ideas for reducing our collective carbon footprint.

Cllr Sarah Rouse, Portfolio Holder for Environment at Malvern Hills District Council, said: “This launch event is a great opportunity for businesses to learn more about how they can be part of something bigger and support local projects that make real environmental change. It is also a chance to hear from other organisations that have benefited from crowdfunding and made their projects a reality”.

Anyone who has an idea for a community project in their local area is also being invited to learn more about the other funds available at a free online workshop at 12pm on 30 March 2022.
