The Walking Festival website will open for bookings on 1 January 2022. There is plenty of choice for everyone, with over 70 walks available across the 9 days. There are multi-day walks, all day walks and shorter half-day jaunts; many are themed covering heritage, farming, music in general & Elgar in particular, history and art, geology, nature, trees and gardens plus a couple of walks dedicated to beer & breweries!
Each walk is graded from Gentle to Strenuous so no-one need let themselves in for more (or less) than they can handle. The 2 most strenuous walks will be the popular 19 mile Malvern Hills End-to-end and Back, and the 31 mile Worcestershire Way in a Day.
Commenting on the programme, Festival Chairman Bob Baldwin said:
“One of the few benefits of Covid lock-down, was that it introduced many people to the joys of walking & rambling. This year’s Festival was sold out, with many participants joining us for the first time. Next year will be our biggest ever since we started in 2005, making the Malvern Walking Festival one of the largest in southern England. I encourage people to get onto our website as soon as it opens in January and book a walk or two before we are sold out again.
For the first time we are pleased to be supporting the Midlands Air Ambulance charity although of course, we sincerely hope we will have no need of their services “
